So this was my 3rd year taking part in the Distinguished Gentlemans Ride.
If you haven’t heard about it before, let me give you a quick rundown.
The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is a charity motorcycle ride-out. Their goal is to raise awareness and funds in aid of cancer research, mental health awareness and suicide prevention.
The first ride out was in Australia in 2012 and it has grown every year since.
I set a personal fundraising goal of £250 this year, and was over the moon to have finished with a total of £318
Although the event was hampered by rain this year, I was still thrilled to see riders come out and support the event despite the adverse weather conditions. The route this year’s was considerably different to previous rideout’s.
Instead of the usual route which takes the riders through Cardiff, to Barry island and back to the Penarth waterfront. The 2019 ride was focused on getting as much public attention as possible by focusing the ride around the city!
This year it rained nearly constantly throughout the ride. Luckily I had anticipated this and decided to shoot on my Nikonos IV-A. Being an underwater camera, I figured it’d handle some rain with no issues and was beyond pleased with the results.
